Pacman 80 Final Update? (1.3)


Hi everybody! Long time no see!

With Flicky1211, we've cooked up some fixes and enhanced some features from the game. A lot of minor things, this is not a mind-breaking update at all.

Here they are:

  • General Plus mode code optimizations and changes
  • Sue now has a slight speed boost when chasing a player
  • Pac-Jr. maze 4 ("Gameroom") has been slightly modified
  • Minor tweaks to Pac-Jr. CS and Ultra Pac-Man maze colors and color sets
  • Minor tweaks to fruit colors and sprites
  • Other sprites and animations have been updated
  • The gauge in the Pac-Maniax game mode now refills (after going under a certain threshold) when a player revives by stealing a life from another player
  • After a mode switch that causes ghost reversals, ghosts still in the ghost house now exit to the right
  • New difficulty system implemented, which affects how fast (as well as how many) ghosts leave the ghost house
  • Continuing from a game over now replays the start theme for the respective game mode
  • The fruit AI in the Jr. Pac-Man gamerules has been modified

You might wonder why it took so long to get that update out, and it's mostly due to personal projects that hooked me during the last few months. One of these projects being, as put up simply, a more complete and more ambitious version of Pacman 80, running on a more versatile engine to allow my initial ideas to shine through, simply called Pac-Man Ultimate Mix.

I don't know if Flicky and I will ever come back to Pacman 80, but if we get some serious glitches to fix, be sure that we'll work on that, but don't expect any gameplay adjustment with this game.
